Yet another Smart Limited Edition - the Smart Fortwo Lightshine
You have to hand it to Mercedes – they don’t give up on Smart (or Maybach – another expensive departure). They keep churning out new cars (well, endless new limited editions, anyway) despite sales that seem to keep falling. Last year (2010) saw Smart sales in the UK fall by 8.5% and their sales last month (December 2010) were a woeful 57% down on December 2009.

I know, you’ve been waiting for the Fiat Doblo. The Doblo is another of those van based mini people carrier things, designed to transport as much as possible for as little outlay as can be managed. The name suits it (you could see Dobby the Elf behind the wheel) but if your need is to shift your brood and their belongings around as cheaply as possible the Doblo – just like the equally daftly-named Peugeot Bipper Tepee – could fit the bill.
French curves and a ghost from the United States' gilded luxury-making past won top honors on Sunday at the 31st Concours d'Elegance of America at Meadow Brook on a sunny afternoon north of Detroit. A 1938 Talbot-Lago 150-C teardrop coupe won Best in Show for European cars, and a 1929 Duesenberg Model J-129 Le Baron Dual Cowl Phaeton won Best in Show for Americans at the annual event, which attracts some of the most luxurious and pristine cars from around the country. The Talbot-Lago shimmered with silver paint and chrome, and already counts two smaller awards at the Pebble Beach concours to its name.
